This is going to be fast.

I had a rough night. I've got a sore throat, and woke up every time I swallowed. And I seem to have pinched a nerve in my neck, making it painful to move my head and severely limiting the number of comfortable positions I could find to sleep in.

On top of that, Penny woke up at 4:30 this morning. Mercifully, she went back to sleep, but only for about 45 minutes. At 5:25, I tried to convince her to go back to sleep. At 5:40, Matt gave it a try. She cried and screamed and wailed until I got up at 6.

Naturally, since she'd worked herself up into a lather, and was tired to boot, she continued to be generally whiney and fussy all morning, so it wasn't the best of days.

And then, since Matt's car is in the shop for the same recall I went through a couple of weeks ago, I took him and Penny to work and daycare, respectively. Penny sobbed pitifully when we left, but since she'd been fussy all morning, it didn't cut as deeply as it might have if she'd been happy up until that moment.

Here's hoping she gets in some good naps at daycare and is in a better mood when she gets home.

So, to sum up: Not a lot of sleep, fussy baby, can't turn my head without intense pain, and a cold about to descend upon me. I'm not in the very best of moods today.

Now if you'll excuse me, I forgot my cough drops, so I'm going to go make myself the first in what will no doubt be a near-continuous succession of mugs of tea.
