1 November 2004

Ta-loo, ta-lay, it was a nice weekend!

I mean that in almost every possible sense. The weather warmed up until it was almost too warm.

Friday night, Matt went out to a farewell party his office was throwing for his boss (who got laid off, and that's a source of some concern, but it sounded like the party itself was kind of fun) so I took Penny over to my parents', where she was adorable and made much of. And my mom just about emptied her closet on me. I haven't been able to steal clothes from her closet since I was in high school. Some of the outfits she gave me are really nice, too.

Kris and E hosted a scrapbooking party on Saturday, and K.T. came, so I got to spend some time with my friends (some of it even baby-free!) and indulge my new hobby.

And K.T. said very very nice things about the album I made for her of Jess, which made me feel really good. And then she came up with a decent rationalization as to why I should buy scrapbooking things now, even though I'm in a no-buy zone. Isn't she smart?

Penny wasn't long on sleep, by any means, but at least she was in a fairly good mood, considering how early she was getting up.

(We're still working on pushing her sleep schedule up to match the daylight-savings time switch. I'm sure we'll get there in the end.)

And Hallowe'en was a blast. Penny was adorable in her little puppy costume.

Penny the Puppy

My parents' neighborhood has a parade on Hallowe'en that ends right in front of my parents' house, so we went out for the end of it, and I took Penny across the stage and got her a little ribbon and treat bag.

Penny didn't want to leave the stage, actually - she kept running back over to it during the proceedings.

But eventually, we found some things to distract her. Like real dogs...

Nice doggy!

...and balloons!

B'loons!

All the excitement kind of wore her out, and she wound up catching nap in the car on the way home. She fell asleep clutching one of her new balloons... It was adorable.

Tired puppy...

Soooo tired!

But when we got home, she let me know that she had plenty of energy left to go trick-or-treating!

Trick or treat!

I just took her around to a few houses on our cul-de-sac - mostly to families with other small children. She was a little confused about things at first, but eventually seemed to get the hang of it. She even stopped fighting my insistence that I keep hold of her hand.

Then we went back home to help Matt hand out candy to other trick-or-treaters. Around 7, we got a surprise visit from Braz and Emma. Matt gave Emma a double-handful of candy, and they came in to visit for a little bit before heading back to their house with their sugary loot.

Trick or treat!

So all in all: Good weekend. Yay!

(Many, many pictures were taken. Expect the photo album to be updated soon.)
