1 December 2004
Holy jinglebells, Batman! Is it December already? It's time to start keeping very close track of my calendar and schedule, I guess. Work stuff: This week isn't too bad; next week looks slow until Friday, when I'm going to be buried under a deluge of last-minute crap. How do I know this? I'm psychic. Also, our schedule says there are no less than eleven documents due out the door Friday for various projects, and because most of them are fairly small, their owners will think, "Oh, it's small, there's no rush to get it in early." That's just the way things happen around here. The week after that looks very slow, which is good news. And the week after that, I'm taking off, though depending on what my back-up reviewer's plans are, I may have to come in for a half-day at some point. And then there's the weekends. This Saturday, there's a scrapbooking workshop. I'm hoping to finish the scrapbook I'm making for my grandmother while I'm there. Next weekend is my office holiday party on Friday, and then we're having a moon-cookie party at my parents' house on Saturday. That leaves me doing all my holiday baking and cooking on the weekend that begins my vacation, or during my vacation. We'll see how that goes; Matt can't take the whole week off, so we may wind up taking Penny to daycare for the first two days so I can get stuff done around the house - like baking and cleaning and last-minute wrapping and... Like that. Maybe even decorating, if I get really ambitious. And then either New Year's Eve or New Year's Day my brother and his wife are having a party. That's not counting any gatherings that any of our friends might have, or visits down to my parents' to see family during Christmas week. Or any unplanned activities that might arise. Or, for that matter, time to shop for presents we haven't got yet. Whew. Time to get busy. Sorry if this was a bit less coherent than usual. Penny had a nightmare or something and woke up screaming around 1:15. I gave her a hug and put her back to bed, and she cried for a little bit, but was quiet again inside about five minutes. But then both Matt and I were awake for another hour and a half or more. Yay, adrenaline. (I wish there was a way to gauge sleeplessness. If we'd known we were going to be awake that long, we could've done something other than laying in bed, tossing and turning and occasionally saying, "You still awake, too?") |
Last Year: Or maybe it would be more accurate to say that it was like childbirth - the bad parts are already fading from my memory.
