Hrm; today's year-ago link reminds me that I should hurry up and decide how I want to spend the certificate Matt got for my birthday, and call the place. Early Christmas week, if they have any openings left, would be the ideal time for me to do that, since I'll be on vacation. (Though it's also tempting to leave it until after the holidays, as a post-holiday de-stressor. Which is why I'm still waffling.) I'm going to have to push hard to make my writing goal this week. I had actual real work to do on Monday, and then yesterday I wrapped Christmas presents - it's so much easier and faster to wrap on a huge conference table than on the floor. (Though that needed to be done; now there are only three presents we have on-hand that haven't been wrapped yet.) And I never would have been able to write yesterday, anyway; I kept getting interrupted to do little 15-minute work things. Gift wrapping can be interrupted half a dozen times without suffering; writing - at least for me - just isn't up to that kind of fragmentation. Still, it's a bit discouraging. Last week, I was more than half done by Tuesday. Of course, I wrote well over a thousand words on Wednesday alone, so there's still some hope. I think if I can just get started, I'll be able to do something decent. And tonight is Matt's basketball night, so the house will be quiet for a little while... Though the fact that I've been sitting here, schluffing around instead of writing something worth saying in my journal entry for almost half an hour, doesn't bode well... Keep your fingers crossed for me. |
