10 December 2004

Whee... There are important customers in the office today, so I'll be spending the day with my office door closed (my office is right across from the main conference room).

Though in the winter, I don't really mind so much. My office is perpetually just about five degrees cooler than I want it to be (I swear, the instant Penny was born, my comfort zone for temperature shifted about ten degrees up. It was kind of nice this summer, that I didn't mind the heat until it got up over 85, but now that it's winter, the 70 of my office has me shivering constantly. Yes, I'm afraid I'm going to be one of those, "Put on a sweater, I'm cold," mothers. If anyone out there is still wondering what to get me for Christmas, I'd like a small, quiet radiant heater - my fan heater is way too noisy. And now, after the mother of all asides, do you remember what the original sentence was? Go take a look, because I'm about to get back to it.) ...and closing my office door keeps things warm.

Also, when my office door is closed, I don't seem to suffer as many frustrating interruptions. My concentration isn't broken by the simple act of people walking by.

Not that I don't already have interruptions enough on my schedule today. I have a conference call at 10. And an internal meeting at 1 (that probably not enough people will show up for, so it'll be short, at least). And I have an annoyance of administrivia to wade through. And there's another short meeting that will take place at some currently unknown time.

On the plus side, I did in fact manage to get a decent amount of actual writing done last night. I'm hoping to get enough done today to make up my weekly goal, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

And if you thought that was a boring entry, you should be grateful. When I walked in this morning, I was originally going to be super geeky and talk about the trials and tribulations I went through putting my dad's Christmas present together. Instead, I'll just show it to you:

Grinch

The verse on the right is the bit from How the Grinch Stole Christmas where he's lying to Cindy-Lou Who about the light being out on the tree. It amuses me especially because in the picture, the string of lights Penny's looking at is out.

And if any of my fellow scrapbooking geeks want to know about the pain in the ass the matting/mounting paper presented, and how I finally solved the problem, just ask. I'll be happy to talk about it. (Hint: Stickynotes are my new best friend, and I will henceforth be keeping a few pads in with my scrap supplies.)
