Penny got sent home early yesterday with an upset stomach, and since she continued to have an upset stomach through the evening, she's home again today. Matt's sort of between projects at work right now, so he's staying home with her. But if she has to stay home again tomorrow, we'll call my mom, just so Matt doesn't eat up all his vacation time. He's got a scheduling challenge, though. Penny's got a doctor's appointment at 11:30 (not for the upset stomach, but a six-month checkup on her ear tubes). She usually eats lunch around 11, and takes a nap around noon. Certainly, she won't nap before the appointment, but Matt's going to have to decide whether to try to give her an early lunch, or take something along to the doctor's, or... Whee. Anyway, Matt had an upset stomach last week, that lasted about 36 hours, so we figure Penny's probably just picked up that bug from him. If she's still doing poorly tomorrow, we may take her to the doctor, but since she has no other symptoms at all, the doctor's likely to tell us it just has to run its course. So to speak. I'll be spending my morning doing last-minute cleanups of the most recent edition of the Spreadsheet of Hate, as it's due in for review this afternoon. And then I'll be able to ignore it for a week or so. Come March, I'll have to do a road trip up to DC to defend it. Not just me, but me and several other people. The joys of an audit. I'm sure Matt's looking forward to several days of solo baby-wrangling. Or not. You know. Though this should at least be somewhat easier on him than last year, when I had to travel in January and left him with snowstorm and a baby who couldn't be put down for any length of time and who wasn't yet sleep-trained. Not that I'm looking forward to the travel myself. Driving in DC. Ugh. Being grilled by auditors. Double-ugh. But there's at least a 90% chance that Heather will be one of the others on the trip, so we're consoling ourselves with the thought that maybe we can take an evening and go shopping. (Reminders to self: Make sure I've got plenty of minutes on my phone before I go. And re-apply for my corporate credit card, as I'm pretty sure mine was cancelled for lack of use.) |
