I understand that it's not really possible to control the fact that Penny wakes up at night when she's teething.

I just wish the little buggers would hurry up and finish cutting, so we can all go back to getting some sleep.

At least things are relatively slow at work. I spent most of yesterday working on my wedding scrapbook, and a chunk of the remaining time trying to get some writing done. I expect today will go about the same. There's four documents due out tomorrow, but I've already seen two of them.

Penny's got a new "word" - bumblebee.

Of course, she can't quite wrap her mouth around all those sounds and syllables, so what she gets out is, "Bum-bm-bm-bm!"

It's adorable, which is good, because it seems to be the word of the day. This morning, she handed me a pen and presented me with her clean hand and said, "'tah!" (which means star). So I drew a star on her hand.

Then she showed me her other hand and said "Bum-bm-bm!"

"Don't you want a moon?" She just looked at me, as if patiently waiting for my slow, grownup brain to catch up. I tried again. "Penny, do you want a bumblebee, or a moon?"

"Bum-bm-bm-bm!"

So I drew a little bumblebee on her hand, figuring that if she got mad and demanded a moon, I could probably fit a thin crescent moon in on the side. But she was delighted with her bumblebee.

(In case you're wondering why it has to be "bumblebee" and not just "bee," it's because one of her books has a bumblebee in it to load up the syllables to fit a rhyme. Matt and I have changed words in one or two of her books, but bumblebee seemed pretty harmless. We had no idea she was going to try to say the whole thing instead of just "bee.")
