Whoo, Presidents Day! But I'm at work, because my company gave us three floating holidays this year - which is to say, we get to choose when to use them. The upside is that I won't have to spend so much of my vacation time when we go to Chicago at Christmas; the downside is that I don't get Martin Luther King Jr. Day or Presidents Day off. (The other "liberated" holiday was what they used to call a floater, which is to say, they'd assign it to the day after Thanksgiving, or else a day next to Christmas, whichever better suited the CEO's vacation plans.)

But Penny's daycare isn't closed for the day, either, which means Matt gets the whole day to himself! Amazing, but true. He tells me he plans to spend the day in glorious sloth, excepting only a run at lunchtime for some wonderfully non-diet food.

(I am tightening the notches on my diet belt again. For no reason whatsoever, despite being pretty good last week, I gained a pound and change back. I'm beginning to think that I need to go back through induction to get my stupid body over this plateau.)

But we had a very good weekend. We took Penny to see my parents, and they're always delighted to play with her. And we took her to the library, and she had great fun playing with the toys they keep in the kids' area. (Though she proved a great frustration to the older kids who were playing with the wooden block set. They'd start to lay out their towers and roads, and Penny would decide that the only game worth playing was to pick up the blocks and throw them back into the storage bucket.)

And then we had the Brandts over for dinner. Matt sees Braz once a week at basketball, and I see Kris once or twice a month for scrapbooking or other crafty things, but it was nice to get together as families. Emma loves playing with Penny, and Penny loves having anything to do with bigger kids, so it's a good match, while it lasts.

Kris, by the way, is already having occasional brief contractions. There is some discussion on whether Sarah will be willing to wait another two weeks until the scheduled C-section. I guess we'll find out!
