Wow, what a busy weekend. I never even got a chance to take any pictures!

Friday evening, Matt and I put Penny in her stroller and walked up to the neighborhood playground. The homeowners' association is trying to put together a group to go walking in the evenings; we thought we'd at least stop in and consider it. Unfortunately, it was raining and Penny was dressed for warmer weather, so we didn't stay very long. But we may try to join the walking group a couple times a week.

Saturday morning we ran errands, and then after Penny got up from her nap, we went down to Chesapeake to visit K.T. and Kevin. We had a nice visit, right up until the time we tried to go out to eat, which is when Penny decided to have a meltdown. She even hit Matt (though she's been getting better about the hitting lately) which made him nearly have a meltdown. He was mad until the next morning, I think.

I don't get it. She's fine when we're visiting at their apartment. She's fine going out to eat with Matt and I, and even with other friends. But the instant we set foot into a restaurant with the Hickses, she turns into The Brat.

And Greg had come over special to visit with us, too. Sorry, Greg.

Sunday morning we "slept in," thanks to Daylight Savings, and then we bustled down to the Sam's Club in Newport News to pick up diapers and kleenex and meat. Then we came back home and gave Penny her lunch.

After lunch, she was sitting on our laps and acting tired, so we went ahead and put her down for her nap a little bit early - but then she decided she wasn't tired after all, and wound up fussing for nearly an hour before finally succumbing to the nap.

I went over to Jeremy and Elizabeth's - Elizabeth decided to become a Creative Memories consultant, and this was her premiere/practice show. Kris was there with Sarah, so I got to hold the baby for an hour. She's so tiny and adorable! (No, she does not quite make me want another, quite yet.)

Of course I placed an order, and of course I went over budget.

And then after I got home, we packed Penny up and went to the grocery store for the week's groceries.

I made a seven-layer taco salad for dinner that - if I do say so myself - turned out really well. Layers: Meat, refried beans, lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, salsa, and sour cream. Also, I had black olives on the table, but Matt hates olives. Next time, I'm tempted to add diced avacado, too. All diet-legal (well, with low-fat cheese and sour cream).

We had some trouble getting Penny to bed, of course - she doesn't care about Daylight Savings, after all. We let her stay up about half an hour later than "usual" - but that meant she was going to bed about half an hour earlier than her internal clock said she should be, and she pitched a fit and nearly made Matt lose his patience with her again. Luckily, once she finally accepted her fate, she let us read her bedtime books and went to bed with no fuss.

Naturally, I didn't get to sleep until late, either, and I couldn't wake up when the alarm went off this morning. It's nice that Penny's "sleeping in" (at least, until her internal clock catches up with the time change, she is) but I'm running a half-hour behind schedule today. I hate Daylight Savings. I really, really do.

But tonight, we've got someone coming to deep-clean our living room rug - it's a freebie that a local shop is running. I assume their gig is that we'll see how lovely the living room rug is, cleaned, and feel a deap-seated need to hire them to do the rest of the carpets in the house. Luckily for us, the carpet in the living room doesn't touch the carpet in the rest of the house, and it's also the filthiest carpet in the house. So I doubt I'll feel the need to have the rest of the house done.

It does mean that I need to go home after work and move as much of our crap out of the living room as possible and into the kitchen or dining room.
