They say (ah, the infamous They) that when your toddler begins to show an interest in dressing herself, it's best not to stand in the way of their clothing choices, even if it's something hideously awful like orange pyjama bottoms and a lavender shirt and mismatched socks and shoes.

Because, really, none of the other toddlers at daycare are going to care how she's dressed, and the important thing is that your child feel proud of herself for picking out her clothes and putting them on.

I don't think that's what happened this morning, but I'm willing to consider that it might be on the way.

Last night, I washed the dishes and made lunches for today while Matt gave Penny a bath. When I finished, they were still upstairs, so I got a few minutes to sit and relax. I overheard this:

"Penny, sit down. You have to sit down in the tub, honey. Sit- Penny, sit down, or we're getting out of the tub. Three. Two. One. Okay, that's it."

thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump-thump- "HEY! COME BACK HERE!"

There's no sound in the world like the laugh of a wet, naked baby.

They're both great guys alone - cheerful, intelligent, enthusiastic, and friendly - but put them together, and it's like they become part of a hive mind or something and turn into two hands of Loki.
