K.T. logged into IM last night and asked if Matt and I would be willing to put up Ashby and his wife and baby daughter in our guest room for a couple of days, next weekend.

It turns out that K.T. had attempted her semi-annual "are you dead?" call a few days ago, and - miracle of miracles - they actually answered the phone. She invited them down for this year's summer bash (Karen and Jeff will both be in town for the first week of July) and - miracle of miracles - they said yes.

Of course, it's Ashby, so I'm not going to believe it until I actually see it. But his wife seems to be much more organized and together (she's the one who sent out the baby announcements), so who knows? Maybe it'll actually happen!

I confess to being the tiniest bit nervous about having an infant in the house again, but it's only for a couple of days. And I'll be very excited to see Ashby again, and meet his wife and daughter. And introduce him to our daughter - I haven't seen him since before Penny was born.

But it was kind of a shock to me to realize that we're down to only a week before people start showing up for the summer bash. One week? Damn, I'd better get on with the work I have to do before then!

Speaking of work. I've got two documents sitting on my desk waiting for review, and of course both of them are due out this afternoon. So I'd better get on with it.
