So yeah, I went to lunch with Matt and K.T. Who was I kidding - miss lunch with my best friend, just because the timing wasn't going to work out quite like I'd hoped? It turns out that Jess has some new virus that just appeared in the last few weeks; it's fairly uncomplicated, even if it does raise ugly welts that fade into bruises. I guess we'll have to keep an eye on Penny for that; it's one of those viruses that's contagious before the obvious physical symptoms arrive, so I expect it to be making the rounds at daycare pretty soon. But Jess was already almost recovered, and she giggled at Matt's silly faces and games, and was her usual good-as-gold company self. So we had a very nice lunch, despite the molasses-speed service. Poor Penny keeps getting hoarser and hoarser, though she's not coughing so much anymore. I'm now about 95% certain she caught my strep - that's exactly the pattern mine took. So she's got an appointment with the doctor this morning at 8:30, just to verify it. Luckily, an 8:30 appointment means that Matt should be able to fill the antibiotic prescription and give her the first dose this morning, and she'll be okay to go back to school tomorrow. (That's if they don't give her the shot again, which would be even more convenient for us.) Assuming Penny does have strep and will have to stay home all day, I'll be heading home around noon so that Matt can go in to the office and get some work done. Poor little girl. At least it's a fairly benign strain of strep, with no fever and only a medium-grade sore throat. Aside from being hoarse, she's being her usual cheerful self. (Mostly. She was a little sad this morning, when she wanted Matt to get up with her instead of me, but she got over it.) |
