Yeah, so. Penny has strep throat, which I was pretty sure of. And bronchitis, the poor thing.

The good news is that they're both bacterial infections, and she had her first dose of antibiotic yesterday morning, so she's back at daycare today, even though she's still a bit raspy.

It started out as a good morning - Penny not only slept straight through the night (for the first time in weeks, if not months), but she also slept in until about 6:15, which was nice. And despite still being a bit froggy, she was in excellent spirits.

So we got all our stuff together and set out for work and school... But before we even got to the end of our street, Matt pulled over with a flat tire.

So we moved Penny to my car, and I took her to daycare so Matt could wait for AAA to dispatch a guy to put the donut on his car so he can limp it up to the dealership for a new tire. (Priuses have weird tires.)

So Matt's day is starting off... poorly.

When Penny and I got to daycare, we ran into Savannah and her mom just coming in at the same time. Savannah is almost exactly Penny's age - Penny's about two weeks older - and the girls quite adore each other, so Penny was excited to see her.

Penny was a little perturbed when I said I had to go, but one of the teachers said, "You want to come over here, Penny? We're going to have some Cheerios in a few minutes..."

Mom? Mom who?

So here's hoping the rest of the day is calmer and more productive.
