Well, I got Tiger installed on my iBook last night. I spent half of last night downloading and playing with various Widgets. That was fun, though I think it'll be a while before I'm comfortable enough with them to get any real use out of the concept. I played a little with Spotlight and the Smart Folders, though, and those are both extremely impressive. Spotlight's search function was pretty much instantaneous, and dug deep. And I'm glad I installed Tiger before re-organizing my files; the Smart Folders are going to completely re-define my organization strategy. But in a good way. I'll be able to get rid of a lot of redundant files. So I'm feeling pretty happy about that. If only I had more time to dork around with my computer. Penny was a real stinker this morning. I went into her room to get her, and she demanded, "Daddy!" "Daddy's asleep," I told her. "Do you want to get up with Mommy?" I held out my arms to pick her up, and she glared at me and started bashing her forehead against the side of the crib in protest. I stopped her. Angry, she pushed me away with all the force she could muster. "Okay, fine. Bye." I walked out of her room, closed the door, and went back to bed. I kind of expected her to start crying, but she didn't. In fact, she was quiet for a good five or ten minutes. When she started talking again, I went back into her room to find her lying on her pillow, talking to Puppy. She tried to tell me something about Puppy and Piglet, but I couldn't follow it. She threw Piglet on the floor. When I didn't pick Piglet back up for her (I was waiting for a "please,") she got mad and started smacking the crib rail with her hand. And when I didn't react to that, she made a little fist and knocked on it. I let her. Finally, she made a gesture like she was pushing me away again, though I wasn't close enough for her to actually touch me. "Okay. Bye-bye." I went back to bed for another five or ten minutes. Finally, she decided she wanted some milk, and was willing to let me get her out of bed (though she was once again angry when it was revealed that I was going to change her diaper before taking her downstairs). And then when we got to the stairs, she wanted to go back for Puppy - and then instead of coming down the stairs, she wandered into our room, where Matt was still half-asleep. Daddy's Girl. She clung to him while he got up and dressed. It's probably a good thing he'd showered the night before, because she put up enough of a fuss when he shut her out of the bathroom so he could pee. I understand she continuted to be a bit of a stinker while I was in the shower, making messes and refusing to help clean up, saying one thing and meaning another, and generally being not precisely bad-tempered, but willful. Yay, Terrible Two's, I guess. Still, it's a hundred times less frustrating (at least for me) than when she was an infant and couldn't communicate at all. |
Last Year: Colleen brought Patrick over for a visit Saturday. 5 Years Ago: Okay, it's a really geeky thing to be excited about, but I'm a sortof geeky person. And if I can combine geekiness with books, so much the better!
