Matt and I slam forgot to make lunches last night, so we're both going out to eat for lunch today.

Aw, darn.

Actually, it could be timed better. I have my chiropractor appointment today, which means the ideal time for me to stop for lunch would be on the way back from that - but if I do that, I won't be able to find anyone to eat with.

Oh, the agony and hardship, I know.

Last night was much better; Penny woke up once around 5:30, but went back to sleep after about 10 minutes, and let Matt and I doze in until almost quarter after six. Thank goodness.

The daycare folks asked Matt if we were going to be doing anything for Penny's birthday, which means they probably aren't. So Matt told them we might send in some cupcakes - so now we need to go back to the store and buy another box of cake mix and icing and cupcake papers, and make cupcakes.

I'm going to be baking a lot, this week.

Guess I should figure out what else I need from the store before we go.

Yesterday I was chatting with K.T. while she was trying to get her current novel moving again, and she bounced some ideas off me, and said she wasn't sure how to insert some information that she wanted placed. And I came up with a way to do it.

And then I thought of another story-arc that I'd like to see her tackle.

And then I came up with some more background for one of the characters. I don't even know if it'll make it into what she's writing, but it does kind of flesh things in.

It felt amazing to have all those ideas, one on top of the other. I haven't done that for quite a while. I've been in the editing phase of Willow Bough for months, and while it's necessary, and I think the story has improved by leaps and bounds since I first wrote "The End" back in March... Editing isn't the most creative process.

So it felt good to pile on the ideas, to realize that I could, in fact, still do it. (Nice to know, since the Meadehall plot I was working on kind of fell flat on its face before it could even get off the ground.)

Now, if only I could get that creativity pointed in the direction I want it to go... I mean, I'm thrilled to have been able to help K.T. out of a hole, but I'd really like to get some ideas for my writing, y'know?

Ah, well. At least it's a fairly slack week at work, so maybe I'll be able to dig in and make some real progress on Willow Bough, at least.
