Penny was in a good mood this morning, which was nice, because last night she was at the Whine Festival.

Not even full of Sadness, just... whiney. Bleh.

But she slept all night, and even slept in until 6:15 or so this morning, and she was bright and chirpy and giggly this morning, so that was nice.

We think she's starting to acclimate to the two-year-old room, as well (knock on wood). It's been a long battle, with lots of backsliding, but they seem to have stumbled onto the knack of it, which is to take her in there and let a teacherminder (as Matt calls them) distract her with a toy or activity before she can be sad.

And she can (sort of) say one of the teachers' names ("Sheesha," which is to say, Alicia)now, and she doesn't generally have names for people she doesn't like. So that's going nicely.

My current story is chugging along nicely, too. I'm not writing quite as prolifically as K.T. is, these days, but I got about 1300 words done yesterday, which felt pretty good.

I'm intrigued by this story, because pretty much everyone in it is an asshole. The main character is the worst sort of playground bully, his favorite victim would be just as bad if he had the strength to back it up, their parents and teachers are casually abusive...

The main character is going to have a hint of redemption before the end, I think, but it's still a pretty brutal story about an extremely brutal society.

It might be a bit disturbing, how much I'm enjoying writing it.

The rest of the week looks busy. Tomorrow after work, Elizabeth and I are scrapbooking. Friday is Penny's doctor's appointment in the morning, and then Matt's going to a baseball game that evening.

And I'm just positive there's something happening this weekend that I've completely forgotten about...

Ah, well. It'll come to me.
