The Brandts had us over last night for pizza and to borrow Matt for some manual labor. We had a fun time, and Penny was mostly pretty well-behaved, but the pizza did not do my diet efforts any good at all.

And I'm going out to lunch today with our new CM Manager so we can talk about some reorganization efforts she wants to do.

Salad for lunch. And water. And no bread knots. And leftover salad for dinner. What the p'tunk is wrong with my body, anyway?

Of course, the moving of furniture and such took longer than anticipated. At about ten after eight, I called Matt on his cell and said, "I'm going to take Penny home. Get Braz to drop you off when y'all are done."

Surprisingly, Penny was mostly cool about going to bed without Matt. She asked where he was a few times, and I reassured her that Daddy was fine and would be back soon, and I let her stall a little more than usual when I put her in the crib, but she didn't raise a fuss, and by the time I'd finished making lunches, she was quiet.

She did wake up briefly at about quarter-past five this morning, but Matt went in and talked to her and calmed her down, and he got her to lay down again. We weren't sure she'd go back to sleep, but at 6:30 this morning, I had to go in and wake her up.

It's been a long time since I've been able to watch my baby sleeping. She was so cute, I almost couldn't wake her up.

I'm hoping today will be a good day.

I don't have a lot of work to do - I spent most of yesterday morning working to clear my plate - aside from this working lunch with the CM Manager. I'm actually looking forward to that, though, because I'm hoping she'll have a lot of good ideas for getting our system shaken out and straightened up.

Since I'm not working much, I'll get a chance to write. I finally got into a decent writing groove yesterday, just before I left work. I have some hope that it will come back to me today.

And then after work, Elizabeth is going to come over to my office, and we'll scrapbook for a couple of hours. And she's bringing the new stuff I ordered, whoo!

So, to sum up: Life is good, except for the whole diet thing.

I'll take it.
