It's Friday! Whoo! I had an okay day yesterday. Wrote about 1200 words, got the scrapbook pages done for Karen and Jeff's summer bash albums, stuck to the diet, played with Penny in the bath, got her to practice sitting on the potty (with her new potty seat, whoo!) and got some bills paid that were almost overdue. This morning Penny has her 2-year-old checkup. Matt's taking her to that - we've both gone to all the previous checkups, but this one has no vaccinations, and she's fairly healthy, and I'm pretty sure Matt can pass on her official height and weight and tell me what the doctor says. Matt's leaving right after work to go to a baseball game with his office, so I'm picking Penny up after work, and I'll be wrangling solo tonight. (Even if the game rains out, Matt wouldn't be home until well after her bedtime.) But that's okay, since he did most of the wrangling yesterday evening. We're a team, and all. I think Penny's starting to get the hang of putting words together. For the last day or so, when I've asked her to put "please" on the end of her requests ("Milk, please?") she's managed with a fair amount of success. (Before this, asking her to do an "item-please" resulted in her saying, "Ohplease!" which, while cute, was not exactly what we were hoping for.) And last night, as we went up to her bath, Penny stopped at each of the first five or six stairs to peer over the bannister at Matt and say, "I see you!" I'm not sure she knows that's three words, but I'll take what I can get. She's also started randomly spouting associations. This morning it was "Night! Moon!" So she's chugging right along, developmentally. I have no idea if she's "normal" or "advanced" or "behind" in any areas, and as long as I continue to see steady progress, I don't much care. Well, I take that back. Given her utter lack of awareness of activity in her diaper, I expect she's going to potty train kind of late, especially compared to our friends' kids. But I don't think it's a milestone to be worried about, either. There's nothing on my calendar for this weekend, which is nice - except that I could have sworn there was something, and it's going to bother me until I either figure out what it was, or the weekend is done and it's too late. Ah, well. Have a good one! |
