Did I mention yesterday that Penny's learned how to open doors?

The technique seemed to lock in for her yesterday morning, and she opened the upstairs doors several times each.

This morning, she practiced again, on that most time-honored of toddler door-opening activities: walking in on people trying to use the bathroom. Matt and I were both victims. Guess we'll have to start remembering to lock the door when we want privacy.

Also, we need to remember to start closing the gate at the top of the stairs before we go to bed, because Sunday when Penny wouldn't go down for her nap, I watched her hike one foot up on top of her crib rail, then pull herself up until she got both feet over. If I hadn't picked her up and put her back in the crib, she'd have been on the floor.

It looks like a mildly busy week.

Penny has a doctor's appointment this afternoon to have her ear tubes checked. I hope they're okay; neither Matt nor I really want her to go through the insertion operation again if we can avoid it.

Wednesday night, I'm going to book club, and Thursday after work I'm scrapbooking. I'd been hoping to keep those on separate weeks, but the scrapbooking schedule got pushed off a week, so now they're in sync again. Ah, well. The book club only meets once every six weeks.

And sometime this week, I need to come up with birthday presents for my mother and brother. Hmm.

I'm also trying to get a little more organized about my actual work, so that I get everything done that has to be done, and have time to do all the things I want to do, as well. We'll see how that works out.
