1 September 2005

Happy September! Happy birthday, Mom! (Not that she reads this, but y'know. Just to prove that I remembered it. Even if I haven't figured out what to get her, yet.)

Went to book club last night, and we had so much fun talking that Kris and I didn't leave until nearly 10. Heh...

And Penny was good for Matt, which is a bonus. Apparently she asked for me when he put her to bed, but didn't get too upset when he told her that Mommy wasn't home and that she'd see me in the morning.

She slept in again this morning, until almost 6:45. Whoo! The sleeping comes and goes, but she's been doing it a lot more in the last few weeks. Matt and I barely dare to hope it's a long-term change, but it's nice while it lasts.

I'm looking forward to the weekend, anyway. We don't have too many plans, aside from dinner with my folks to celebrate Mom's and my brother's birthdays. The weather is supposed to be really nice all weekend and into next week, so maybe I'll finally finish painting the porch rails.

(Okay, I'm not looking forward to that so much. But it really needs to be done. That, or I need to buy some ivy and morning glory vines to cover the railings up entirely, because they're just nasty looking.)

But first, I have two more days of work to get through. Shouldn't be too bad, though. Pre-scheduling all my little tasks has worked out pretty well, and I've been knocking it all out in just a couple of hours, leaving me plenty of time to write.

(Alas, I managed to write only about 500 words yesterday. I'm hoping today will be more successful.)

And today I'm scrapbooking after work, so that will be fun. I should probably decide which project I'll be working on.

It's weird, but I seem to be far happier when I have a lot of activities to fill my time, even when I grumble about not having as much spare time on my hands.
