Yesterday really felt like a day down the tubes. By the time I'd finished my journal entry, it was time for the weekly staff meeting. (Usually on Mondays, but Monday was a holiday. Gods forbid we just skip the damned thing.) When the staff meeting was over, Dad had called to see if I wanted to walk. And I did - the weather was gorgeous yesterday, and I need to undo the extra cake and ice cream from the birthday parties Monday. So we walked. When I got back to my desk, I had maybe ten minutes before I had to leave for my chiropractor appointment. I was still stiff from painting the porch last weekend, so that was very nice. Then I got back to work and had lunch, and took care of a half-dozen minor little tasks, and... Blah. Though I did manage to get some writing done in the afternoon, mainly by dint of putting off every bit of actual work that came my way that was going to take more than two minutes to finish. Which means I've got all that to do today. Yay, procrastination. At least my whole morning won't be eaten up today. Half an hour or so to walk with Dad, and that's the only thing that's solidly on my schedule. So the plan is, I'll spend the morning working on Actual Work, and the afternoon writing. More or less. I hope. Wish me luck. Oh! Before I forget! A moment of excitement which can only truly be understood by other parents. Penny peed in the potty!!! Okay, to be really stoutly honest - she didn't do it on purpose. She followed me into the bathroom after dinner and demanded a turn, and she just happened to pee while she was sitting on the potty. Pure timing and luck, and nothing like conscious effort on her part. I'm not even sure she knew what she had done. But I praised her lavishly anyway. Maybe she will be trained by the time she's three. |
