Another night of really vivid dreams. Though once again, they all faded like mist as soon as I woke up. The only part I remember is Matt's family sending us a gift, and it turned out to be a garden pond, the size of Penny's swimming pool, and entirely made of concrete and rock so it was too heavy to move.

Damned if I know.

It's kind of a slow work week. Which is to say, 90% of the work I have to do this week is already done.

So I'm getting a decent amount of writing done, which is really nice. And playing a lot of Minesweeper and Freecell, which is pretty mindless. Though I do notice that the more tired I am, the worse I am at Freecell. In fact, if I play four or five games of Freecell before I start writing, it's a pretty good gauge as to how productive my writing will be.

My whole office is getting fresh carpet and paint this month, which is nice, because the current paint is scratched and nasty, and the new carpet is tinted blue instead of brown, so I think it'll look nice. However, it means that we've all got to completely empty our offices so the crews can get in to work.

I don't have it as bad as most - I got permission to move to a different office when it's been painted and carpeted, so instead of having to move all my stuff and furniture in one afternoon, I'll move my stuff over the course of several days, and just have to help move the furniture when it's my old office's turn to be painted.

But I'm trying to decide, as I look around my office, what to keep and what to junk. Some of it is obvious enough - the candy dish that hasn't had candy in it for over a year (junk), or the framed picture of Penny (keep) - but some of it is a real question. Do I keep this betta fishtank and eventually get another pair of fish? Should I try to find a way to attractively arrange my origami collection and display it? How about my posters? The sort of ugly wizard-and-dragon statue that I've kept this long because I'm fond of the person who gave it to me, even though she doesn't work here anymore?

And for that matter, how do I want to arrange the furniture in my new office? And re-organize my stuff? And...

Okay, it's all pretty mundane stuff. But it keeps me occupied.

Someone in our neighborhood has a half-grown kitten that they let outside. We've seen it several mornings in a row, now, prowling around our neighbor's bushes. Matt's taken Penny over to pet it a couple of times.

It seems a little wary, but mostly pretty friendly. When I squatted down and held out a couple of fingers this morning, it came right over to me and rubbed all over my hand. (My person... mine mine.) It then wandered under my car, but Matt was able to lure it out before we had to leave for work.

Matt and I have been giving each other the, "So widdle... so cute!" face over it.

I wonder whether it would be unreasonable to get a kitten of our own again.
