Wow, I have the bestest friends ever.

I got e-cards and phone-beeps and presents to make me cheer up. And when Matt and Penny came home, Penny came in the door carrying a bundle of roses nearly as tall as she is. (There was then some confusion about exactly whose flowers they were, but that was funny.)

You guys are the best.

Though it seemed just about everyone was having a crummy day yesterday. Karen said, "It's like someone screwed up and gave us a second Monday instead of a Tuesday."

And when I went to the code review in the afternoon, one of the programmers expressed a very similar sentiment.

So, there you have it. Two Mondays in a row.

So there's a spare Tuesday floating around. Keep your eyes open for it.

But things did improve, yesterday afternoon. One of the code reviews was re-scheduled for Thursday (which means I won't be able to go, since I have another commitment then, but that's okay), and the other took less than half an hour, including my paperwork. So I actually got to do a little writing, and I managed to push through the fight. (I hate writing fights. They inevitably turn out either confusing or long-winded. For that matter, I don't much like reading fights; I usually just skim them quickly.)

And Matt and I watched the pilot episode of Firefly last night. Cowboys In Space. And they went out of their way to draw the connection for you, just in case you were missing it. The spaghetti-western style music, the clothes, the character stereotypes, the low-slung holsters, the colors... They even found an excuse to bring in some horses.

But I enjoyed it immensely. It didn't take itself overly seriously, and it was downright hysterical in places. It made for a nice evening.

I'm hoping that today will be good. I only have one meeting, and it should be short. And the daily walk with Dad. And I can spend the rest of the day working on whatever I want. I should make an effort to do some Actual Work, but I'm also hoping I can finish writing this story, while I'm at it.

And maybe no one will bring in leftover cake to leave in the kitchen, again.
