22 September 2005

Well, that didn't go as well as I'd hoped. I started writing, but about three paragraphs in, I realized I was having to crowbar my characters into the action I wanted, and I slammed into a brick wall.

So I spent most of the rest of the day doing not much of anything. And today is fairly full of work, so I don't expect to be able to really tackle the writing again until tomorrow.

Ah, well. You win some, you lose some.

On the plus side, I have a good excuse to close my office door whenever I want. We're having the paint and carpeting in our office re-done, so people are using the conference room across from my office as temporary workspace while their offices are being done. And right now, at least, the people in there are all managers, which means they're on the phone a lot.

So I might keep my door closed, even when I'm not trying to write.

Penny and I were on the guest computer this morning, and I fired up the paint program. After a little goofing around, I switched it over to the text function, and started throwing capital letters up on the screen.

Penny missed J, N, S, V, and X. That's it. She knew all the other letters.

Thank you, Sesame Street.
