7 October 2005

I'm trying to think of what to talk about, and not really coming up with anything.

I had fun scrapbooking yesterday, even though I realized when I started unpacking my stuff that I'd forgotten to bring the actual album and the pictures, so I had to run home for them. But in the two hours that were left, I put together three pages, which isn't too bad.

And there's a scrapbook event next weekend -- "Croptoberfest," which could possibly be a dorkier name, but I'm not sure how, but I don't care what they call it; it gets me a good three or four hours to sit down and work.

And then another after-work meet on the 20th. And then I'll probably have to put this album away and start working on the Christmas gift albums.

Penny's fever seemed to be gone, or at least greatly reduced, this morning. But her cough was pretty bad. I'm not sure what this does to our plans for the weekend. We'll have to play it by ear, I guess.

She doesn't know she's sick, though. She's happy and cheerful and bouncy and has a good appetite. So it could be much worse.

Sometimes she surprises me with the intricacy of her thought processes. It's easy to forget how fast her mind works, because she's limited to single words and short phrases for communication. Baby talk. But she can be surprisingly complex, despite it.

This morning, Matt was reading her a book, and she said, "The fish swimming in that pond reminds me that I haven't spent any time in my swimming pool lately. That would be fun! Let's change and go swimming now, please!"

Only the words that came out of her mouth were, "Fish! Fish water? Fish swim. Penny swim! Fish diaper? Pool? Please? Penny swim. Yeah, okay!"
