Adventures in scrapbooking! I'd really hoped to get two or three pages done yesterday. Heh. Hehe. Hehehe! I went to trim a picture into an oval, and apparently the picture slipped a bit, because when I was finished, I had... most of an oval, with a little bit of the bottom cut off. But not enough to make it look deliberate. After glaring and grumbling and measuring for a smaller oval, which wouldn't do because it would have cut out some of the details I'd wanted to keep, I figured out a way to salvage the picture, and it inspired a really cute theme for the page. The only problem was that it took a while to lay out. A long while. A really long while. So... I got exactly one page done. Oh, well. There's no hurry on this album, anyway. And it's just about time for me to put it away and start working on this year's Christmas gift albums. When I got home, Penny was in the bath. Matt called down the stairs to me that she'd spent the whole of Sesame Street kind of lounging on him and acting listless, and he thought she was a little warm. When he got downstairs with her, I had to agree that yeah, she felt a bit warmer than usual, so we gave her a shot of Tylenol before we put her to bed. This morning, she was still pretty warm -- a low-grade on the verge of promotion -- but she was in excellent spirits, with plenty of appetite and no sign of any other unpleasant symptoms, like sniffles or vomiting. So we gave her another shot of Tylenol and packed her off to school, and we're just hoping that whatever it is will pass. If nothing else, she's got an appointment this afternoon to get her flu shot -- I don't think they'll give her the shot if she's still feverish, but while she's there, they may consent to peek into her ears and make sure she doesn't have another infection brewing. Everytime Karen comes to visit, someone gets sick. Viva la tradition! I'm looking forward to Karen's visit, though. She's staying in Williamsburg this time, so we'll get to see a bit more of her than we usually do. She might even get to town in time for dinner tonight, though I'm not holding my breath even if she does leave on time; the interstates go through a lot of cities and Friday traffic between her place and ours. I told her, we're having taco salad for dinner. If she shows up in time to eat with us, I'll throw in some more lettuce and salsa. K.T. and I went through this elaborate process to decide which days we would all be getting together, and where we would do it, and who Karen would be visiting on the remaining days. We tried to let Karen have input, but she kept insisting that aside from Jess's birthday party, she didn't have any particular schedule in mind. So we made it for her. Which sounds a bit obsessive, I know, but I'm planning to take two afternoons off to hang out, and since I needed to get that information to my boss and the other managers in advance, we at least needed to decide which days Karen was not going to Chesapeake. The rest of it just sort of... fell out from that discussion. So it should be a fun weekend, if busy, and a good week, too. As soon as today is done. |
