Check out my "five years ago" quote over on the sidebar... I used to think I knew what a cramped schedule was. Heehee.

It was a good weekend. Saturday we left Penny with my parents so we could go see Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, and then we came back to their house and had Pierce's barbeque for Matt's birthday dinner.

The movie was lots of fun, though once again it's best considered a companion to the book, rather than a standalone feature.

The pecan pie I made refused to set, even though I stretched the cooking time until it was in danger of burning, so it was pretty syrupy. But it still tasted good. (I need to remember to make a note in the cookbook to go with some other recipe next time, though.)

Sunday was spent mostly lazing around the house. We did the usual chores, and I roasted a turkey for Matt's second birthday dinner. The turkey, unlike the pie, turned out beautifully. Matt carved it and put containers of meat into the freezer for future use, and then I started a pot of soup that I'll decant into more containers sometime this evening.

Penny was pretty good all weekend -- even sleeping in until nearly 7 in the morning! (Oh, sweet luxury!) She was Mommy's Girl, though, so every time I tried to sit down and rest, she'd haul me up for something else.

We didn't get the Christmas tree up, but there's still plenty of time. Maybe we'll do it this week.

After Penny went to bed last night, we tried to watch my latest Buffy disc, but we got halfway into the first episode, and it started skipping. So I requested a replacement from Netflix, and we watched the Muppets Wizard of Oz instead, which had been one of Matt's birthday presents.

It was fun -- better than Muppets in Space, not as good as Muppet Treasure Island. But hey, it had Pepe, okay?

And now it's back to work.

Yech, ick, ptooey.

But hey! Only three more weeks until Christmas vacation! Whoo!

(Three weeks? Damn. I really need to get busy with the Christmas presents.)
