5 January 2006

Yesterday was a little better. I finished sorting and posting to the photo album -- including pictures for December and January, as well as four scrapbooks (three that I gave for gifts this year, and while I was doing that, I realized I'd never posted the new pages for the summer bash albums).

So at least I felt like I'd accomplished something.

Today, really, I plan to make some actual progress on work-related things. I've got a meeting scheduled this afternoon that actually might be productive and useful. Next up: a cold snap on the eighth plane of hell.

And maybe, since it's supposed to be nice once all the fog burns off, and since Dad is back at work, we'll walk.

I have three doctor's appointments in the next month, and I'm anticipating that my GP will send me to a specialist for my hearing, so that might make four.

That doesn't include my trips to the chiropractor, which are every two weeks.

Damn, I'm getting old.

Heather, who's probably one of my better friends at work, told me yesterday about a special scrapbooking retreat weekend that her Creative Memories consultant is throwing in April. Two nights in Nags Head, to scrapbook and relax.

Heather will be going, and probably Becky, who's another friend from work. I'm very tempted. I don't want to be disloyal to Elizabeth (who's my consultant), but Elizabeth isn't really in a position to set up anything this elaborate yet, and it sounds like fun, and a wonderful chance to make some progress on my assorted projects.

Especially the projects that keep getting shoved to the back burner so that I can make gift albums. I've started (if not necessarily finished) twelve albums since I started scrapbooking... of which nine were given away as gifts.

Now, I love giving albums as gifts; they always get a great reaction. But I'd like to have something for me, too, you know? One of my resolutions this year (a quiet one) is to finish my college album, and to try to maintain an album for this year.

So I'm thinking I'll probably go to the retreat, but avoid buying anything (apart from the registration fee, obviously). Given all the scrapbooking stuff I got for my birthday and Christmas, there isn't all that much left that I really want to buy, aside from consummable supplies like albums and paper.
