That was as good as weekend as I was hoping for. Saturday was my Creative Memories show, and everyone seemed to have a good time. Holding it at the library worked out wonderfully; I really must remember that for the future. After that, it was back home for about half an hour to regroup, and then we went over to Jeremy and Elizabeth's for the Missmas party. We planned ahead this time and brought some baby gates to keep the kids off Jeremy and Elizabeth's stairs, which turned out to be a fantastic idea. The party was a bit hurried because Kris had to get her kids home early, but it was fun. We had pizza and cookies, and Penny wound up drinking apple juice from a rinsed-out hard cider bottle, which was too funny for words. (So we took a picture, instead.) Sunday was nice and quiet in the morning, and then after Penny's nap, we went over to my parents' for Dad's birthday. Penny was happy to see everyone, and even happier to see the ice cream after dinner, I think. (I kid you not: Dad gave Penny a bigger helping of ice cream than he gave to the rest of us. She ate every bit of it.) When we got home, Elizabeth had sent me the totals from the CM show, so once Penny was in bed, Matt and I put in the Buffy disc and I flipped through the catalog while we watched a couple of episodes. I'm going to end up getting about $175 worth of stuff for about $65, so I think it went pretty well. It's going to be a kind of busy week -- Matt and I are going to see Mirrormask Tuesday night, and then Wednesday I've got my book club and Matt has a basketball game. (Thank goodness for family willing to babysit, eh?) This Thursday is our bi-weekly scrapbooking night, and Friday (I think?) I'm going down to Chesapeake to see Brokeback Mountain with K.T. and Crystal. If it hadn't all been on the calendar weeks ago, you'd think I was trying to cram a lot of stuff in before Matt leaves for New York. I admit, I'm not looking forward to that. Especially since, while I know my family will help out as much as they can, my brother and his wife are preparing to move the first weekend in March, and my parents are going to be out of town the whole first two weeks of March. It worries me a little, not so much over what I'll do to keep Penny entertained, but what I'd do if an emergency popped up. Ah, well. I'll cross that bridge if I come to it, I guess. It's not like we don't have friends around. (Speaking of which, Kevin had a job interview last Friday for a job up here in Williamsburg. If he gets it, he and K.T. and Jess would be moving back up to this area. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for them, please please please!) |
