Yesterday evening was really kind of nice. Penny was in a good mood, wanting to be tickled and swung around, handing out kisses and hugs, and generally being quite adorable. And we had the leftover pot roast for dinner, which meant I didn't have to cook. I'm always in favor of not having to cook! (Note to self: I forgot I was out of spinach; I need to stop at the store and get some if I'm going to make meatloaf tonight.) And despite K.T.'s apparently foul mood, I managed to nag her into doing some more of the session that's been holding up Karen's Hall plot for the last several weeks. I always feel slightly guilty when I do that -- I don't want to be a nag -- but I really miss Halling, and all three current plots have been on hold for months. So I didn't feel too guilty about it. I don't know if they finished the session, though, because they were still going when I went to bed. Matt and I have our anniversary a week from today. We're not getting presents for each other (I don't think -- we should probably decide for sure, because there's not a lot of time left to shop) but we do want to go out to eat someplace really nice. But we need to figure out when, so we can arrange for my folks to babysit. And make reservations. Easter is this weekend, and next weekend we're going down to have dinner with K.T. and Kevin at a new restaurant that's opened up around the corner from them. I'm guessing we'll have our dinner next weekend, on the day that we're not going down to see the Hickseses, whichever day that is. I'm looking forward to Easter, though. It's supposed to get warm again at the end of this week; I'm thinking I might fish out some of Penny's clothes that have been stained beyond redemption and take her out on the deck and show her how to dye Easter eggs. Nothing fancy, of course -- she's not even 3 yet, after all -- just drop them in the dye and lift them out with a spoon and marvel at how they've changed color! (Say it with me: "Ooooo... Ahhhhh...") Maybe we'll invite Melissa and Ray from next door, too. It could be fun. And a huge mess, of course, but living with a toddler is a huge mess anyway. It might as well be a fun mess, right? |
