Feeling pretty good today.

I wrote around a thousand words of the current writing project. I wound up stopping right in the middle of a scene, but when I went back later last night to re-read what I'd done, it was pretty good. I think I might be able to finish that chapter today, which puts me only two and a half chapters from finishing the whole thing!

And I did four scrapbook pages in my three hours of working -- and both of them involved making little papercraft pictures that turned out really well. So I'm only two or three pages from being caught up with the family photo album.

I got home and Penny was good and cute, and Matt reported that she'd been good and cute all evening, and I didn't even mind (too much) reading Curious George to her at bedtime, because it meant a little longer that I got to snuggle with her on my lap.

Matt and I watched The Truth About Cats and Dogs last night, and even though Matt mocked it, I thought it was cute and funny and sweet. I have no idea what Matt thought. Mocking does not necessarily preclude enjoyment. Netflix billed it as a "female Cyrano," but... eh. There were a few obvious parallels, but I don't think they'd have occurred to me if I hadn't been looking for them.

Penny slept in a bit this morning (or at least let us sleep in a bit) -- I was almost done getting dressed when she started calling for me. When I went into her room, I found she'd managed to take off her pyjamas (though not, thank the gods, her diaper), and was proudly slapping her bare tummy.

But she was in a good mood, and let me get her dressed, and she was cheerful and happy and cute all morning. My Mother's Day roses were wilting (they lasted almost a week!) so I started pulling the petals off to go into my bowl of rose-petals, and Penny asked for one of the flowers. So I cut the thorns off one of the less-wilted stems and gave it to her, and damned if she wasn't so adorable with it, I had to take pictures.

("Rose" was on my list of potential names for her, you know. Matt nixxed it because he didn't want any plant names. But I still like it as a name.)

Today's schedule looks fairly calm and light, except for the meeting I might have around mid-morning.

And then tomorrow is the cookout, and I'm hoping that will be a lot of fun. Or at least a lot of yum!

Hope you have a great weekend!
