Whoo, our network's back! It was still down yesterday afternoon when I went home, so I have no idea when it actually came back up. It wasn't too much of a tragedy, though, because I actually managed to write a good 2500 words, in addition to doing some real-work sorts of things. Of course, the real-work things I'd meant to do yesterday couldn't be done because they all required data that was on the LAN, which I couldn't access. So I've got some catch-up to do today. But I'm kind of hoping, just maybe, to knock it out quickly and then get back to writing. I'm only another 3000 words or so from having the rough draft of Tangled Web done, which is pretty exciting, really. And I got two more scrapbook pages done last night. Though I need to get with my brother and see if he remembers some names, because I certainly don't. But the pages I laid out were from a party thrown by the Radford RPG Guild, so I'm hoping he knew them better than I did. Matt wasn't feeling too keen yesterday, so he went home early from work. He managed to get through the evening pretty well, but he had a restless night. At 3:30, he was shivering so hard from the fever that it woke me up. I got another blanket for him, and eventually we got back to sleep. At 5:30, I woke up to hear him in the bathroom throwing up. Poor sweetie. So he's calling in sick today, and I took Penny to school this morning. Sore throat and coughing, followed by nausea/vomiting... Sounds exactly like what I had the weekend before last. If it follows the same pattern, he'll be feeling somewhat better by tonight, and much better tomorrow. Though I think Matt's fever is higher than mine was, but it's hard to tell, because I spent most of my illness eating Advil to dull the pain in my throat. Tonight is my book club meeting. I'm doing a Mexican theme for the food, and I'll need to start cooking almost as soon as I get home, I think. I'm making homemade lime chips to have with salsa, and quesadillas, and sopapillas. And sangria to drink. Though I think I'm going to need to run to the store and get another pack of flour tortillas. From time to time, I actually really like cooking. I'm hoping it'll make up for the fact that I haven't read the book in two years and wasn't able to find it in the bookstore or library when it finally occurred to me that maybe I should refresh my memory a bit. Of course, depending on how Matt's feeling, we may end up with Penny in our midst until she goes to bed, but worse things have happened. We've done it with other meetings, when one husband or another was unable to babysit. The kids are usually pretty well satisfied with a sampling of the food and a little bit of soda. Should be an interesting evening. |
