Yesterday was pretty much a day of petty annoyances. I swear, no one in my office knows how to just let something go. So there were three or four different email chains bouncing around talking about various problems, beating dead horses. I mean, I get the whole CYA thing, but SHUT UP ALREADY, people. A meeting smack in the middle of the morning, and another smack in the middle of the afternoon broke my day up so I couldn't concentrate on anything. Somewhere around noon, I ran my fingers through my hair and thought, wow, my hair really feels lank and greasy. That new shampoo really isn't doing a very good job. It was a full half hour later that I realized I hadn't taken a shower Wednesday night, and that was probably why I felt so scummy. (I have envy for people who can get away with showering every other day.) K.T. pointed us at a site that sells 7th Sea gaming books (among others) in PDF format -- I pounced, because the index in the main book is a little weak, and there isn't an index in any of the support books, so searchable files were going to be a huge benefit. But it turns out that the support books are in "scanned" format, which means that the words that were sitting on top of the background graphic that borders the pages couldn't be OCR'ed and as a result aren't searchable. It also makes the support books' filesize about three times that of the main book. I'm glad I only bought the main book and one support book. Around three in the afternoon, I caught myself nearly nodding off at my desk for no apparent reason. I fought it until 3:45, then went home and fell into bed. It didn't really do me much good, though, as I was lethargic right up until I'd had my shower. I'm still pretty tired today, though, and I don't even know why. Penny was in a Right Stinkerpuss of a Mood until after dinner. I sat down to pay bills and realized that I hadn't entered data into Quicken since March, and I hadn't reconciled my checkbook since February. So instead of scrapbooking, which is what I'd hoped to do last night, I spent two hours on that. (Thank goodness for online bank and credit card statements, though.) So here's hoping today will be better. But, um, I'm not really banking on it. |
