Let's see... Yesterday was better than Tuesday, except that by the time 3:00 rolled around, we could not seem to get our hands on a project manager to approve this delivery. Finally, around 3:45, we managed to get one project manager who then managed to call the correct manager on his vacation and wake him up (he was in Hawaii, so it wasn't quite 10am yet for him) to get him to verbally accept the package for delivery. Stupid, really, since he wasn't going to change anything, but... bleh. I went to Jazzercise again after work, and signed up. Though I was slightly disappointed to see that the Wednesday night instructor is a stick-person. (Though she was pretty funny. "Let's have some pelvic thrusts! Oh, you can do better than that! Come on, that's Antonio Banderas dancing right in front of you!") And somehow I wound up smack in the center of the second row instead of hiding off to the side. Mostly because I was trying to see. Though I got a good look at the Impossible Steps and figured out that it's really not my fault I can't do them. There's a very fast foot-change while doing a 180-degree turn that you can't do without jumping or hopping or something, and I absolutely cannot do that sort of thing with my stupid defective feet, or within a month I'll be unable to walk. So I made up a replacement step and just tried to stick to the beat. Last night's class -- arms and abs. The astonishing news is that there's actually some muscle left in my stomach! Just enough to really hurt after half a song's worth of crunches. And then I got home to discover that the neighborhood was without power. Matt called the power company and their recording said they thought we'd get power back by 9:30pm. Well... So he went out to get pizza for us for dinner. Penny ate about 2/3 of a slice all by herself, which was pretty funny to watch. Our neighbor across the street had his obnoxious, noisy generator running within half an hour of the power going out. "I'm torn," I told Matt, "between being contemptuous of someone who can't manage a few hours without electricity, and being really jealous that they have power and can do things." Apparently reading by candlelight is not as easy for my 35-year-old eyes as it was when I was 20. Who knew? I took an extra-long shower. I don't need a lot of light to lather and rinse, or just stand there and let hot water fall on sore muscles. At least Penny was not distressed by the lack of power, though she has this unshakeable certainty that the lighting of candles portends a birthday, and that therefore the candles should be blown out as soon as possible. Because after the candles are blown out, it's time for cake! I am suffering under the delusion that today is Friday. Every time I look at the calendar, I'm slightly startled to find it's Thursday. Even though I very specifically packed up my stuff to scrapbook after work. Aheh. It might be a long day. And my boss is back in the office, dammit. Yesterday, when we could've used him to rubberstamp the delivery? Not to be found, even via cell phone. Hmph. |
