6 July 2006

Today is Thursday.

No question about it. My desk calendar says, "Thursday, 6 July." My wall calendar... yep, we're in the Thursday column. My desk clock has a little blinking "THU" at the top.

It's Thursday.

But it's also a little bit like Tuesday. Because I didn't have to come to work on the 4th, so the 5th was sort of like a Monday, being the first day back in the office after a break, and today is the second day back after a break.

It's Tuesday.

And it's sort of a Friday, too, because I'm not coming to work tomorrow, and so today is the last day of the working week before my break.

It's Friday.

It's not often that you get three days in one. Pretty cool, huh?

Yeah, so Karen is driving this-a-way today, and last night we sketched out a rough plan of action and visitation and activity for her week here. Should be fun, even if I'm only taking two days off for it, and Matt can't really take any. We worked in plenty of weekend and evening amusement.

I expect we're not going to be over-rested by the time the week is done, but it should be fun. My camera's all charged and ready to go!

It'd been almost two years since I went to the eye doctor, so I went in to get my eyes checked. My eyes were fine. Excellent pressure, slightly wonky blood vessels but nothing to worry about, my nevus hasn't budged. My prescription's changed, but so slightly that the doctor didn't think it'd be worth the cost and effort of ordering new glasses.

But I want new glasses anyway, and my insurance covers new frames every two years, so I went ahead and ordered a pair. Since these are, in essense, a "spare" pair, I got a set of slightly silly frames that are sort of dark pink. I thought they looked good, in a double-take sort of way.

And I took in my old glasses to be made over into prescription sunglasses for me. I can go without my prescription and just wear drugstore sunglasses if I need to, but it gives me a headache to do it for too long -- especially if I'm driving. So there we go. I should've done it last summer, when my insurance would've covered the cost of the lenses (they cover one pair of lenses a year), but oh well.

And they dilated my eyes, so I got to spend the rest of the morning squinting at my monitor even though I'd pushed everything up to like 14-point font. And I got to walk around wearing those ultra-sexxxy flimsy plastic sunglasses they give you so you don't fall down screaming and clawing at your face the first time you encounter the sun. I was smokin' hot in those things, lemme tell ya. I'd take them to Cancun with me, but really -- I'm married, I don't want to cause riots.

No entry tomorrow, no entry Monday. I'll do pictures and a weekend report and a Pirates of the Caribbean 2 review on Tuesday, so you have lots to look forward to. Y'all have a good weekend, and behave!
