14 July 2006

For the most part, yesterday was not my day, and I'm not going to talk about it. Most of the stuff that went wrong was the sort of little niggly shit that we all have to deal with on a day-to-day basis. It just happened to all hit on the same day.

And the evening -- once everyone had waded through their various obstacles and got to our house -- actually went quite well and was a lot of fun.

We ate a lot of food, and talked, and watched the kids play, and talked, and ate some more, and watched the kids play, and talked, and ate some more. Not particularly exciting, perhaps, but quite enjoyable.

And today, Karen heads back home. I think. There was some talk about her staying another day, but I was making hamburgers when they were talking about it, so I didn't catch whether she was actually doing it or if she'd been foiled in her attempt by the hotel. Anyway, it doesn't matter for my purposes. Even if she's staying, she'll be staying in Chesapeake.

Thus ends Summer Bash '06. I'm hoping that K.T. and Karen get their pictures posted in the near future so I can steal them for scrapbooky purposes. Also, I'm hoping that I'm actually in a picture or two. It's the one real drawback to being the shutterbug -- you're never actually in the shots.

Today promises to be a medium-yucky day at work, but the weekend so far looks free and clear (as far as activities go; the weather is promising storms). I'd originally assumed we'd be doing something to celebrate Sam's birthday, but I think that's been cancelled for the time being, since she's in Montana for a funeral.

So our schedules are nice and relaxed, with a few errands to run but no real urgency about it. We'll probably set up the wading pool on the deck for Penny to play in, and maybe we'll do a trip to the library.

A nice, quiet weekend. Mmm.
