Ah, the weekend looms. Finally. Matt's got a pair of softball games tonight, so I'll be putting Penny to bed. And then tomorrow we'll both be up bright and early -- him to watch Penny, and me to drive with Elizabeth down to Chesapeake to pick K.T. up for a day of scrapbooking. Even granting that Penny's much easier to take care of these days, I'm still really grateful that Matt's so willing to do these day-long stints with her. Or, more precisely, not that he's willing, but that he's so obviously fine with it. It's not something he does with a, "Okay, but you'll owe me," attitude. It's just, "Yes, okay, have fun." Last night, he said, "Are you going to be home for dinner, Saturday, or are you and Elizabeth and K.T. going to have dinner before you head home?" "I hadn't thought about it," I said. "The thing is over at five, so I could probably be home in time for dinner." "Well, I don't want you to feel like you have to pack up and rush home as soon as it's done," he said. How sweet is that? Sometimes I feel a little guilty. I always seem to be taking an evening or a day (or a weekend) to go off on my own and do my own thing. Matt has his softball games, and very occasionally, he'll join the Monday night crowd at Corner Pocket, but he's not really into the all-day hobbies. Maybe I should make him some cookies or something. |
