2 August 2006

Yesterday and today, Penny's asked me for a single ponytail instead of two pigtails. I'm happy to comply -- it's easier to center a ponytail than line up two pigtails. And the bidgie for the ponytail is bigger, so it's easier to work with.

When I first put her hair in a ponytail, I thought she'd say it was like Daddy's.

Or maybe like Mommy's, though I don't put my hair up every day, like Matt does.

Oh, no. As far as Penny's concerned, she has her hair up "like Mulan!"

Didn't something happen on August 2nd? I mean, something I should be remembering? The date is sticking in my -- Oh, wait. Braz and Kris's anniversary. Whew. I thought I was going crazy there for a minute.

So congratulations to them for... Nine years, now? Is that right? Wow. Time sure flies.

This is how I know I'm old.

It's not the small failures of the body. It's not the grey hairs, even though it seems there's more of them every day.

It's that, when I was figuring out how many years Braz and Kris have been married, I went into the Old Person Mumble.

"...well, let's see, now. They got married in... was it '96 or '97? Well, Matt and I were married in '98, and I remember Matt said he wanted to be engaged when we went to Braz's wedding, and we were engaged for less than a year, so it must've been August of '97..."

Yep. I'm getting old.

Now, who stole my walker? Those damn kids...
