31 August 2006

I decided to skip Jazzercise yesterday. Mostly -- and let us be honest -- because I was feeling lazy.

But it turned out to be a good thing, because Kris called and told me that the book club meeting was starting at 7 instead of 7:30, because we were having a baby shower for one of the members.

So book club was fun, except that the clubhouse's air conditioning was broken and it was horrifically hot and humid. But the food was good, and the woman who had a baby in February brought the baby with her -- soo cute! And everyone else hated the book, too. It's nice when we're all on the same page like that.

And Matt said that Penny was super good while I was gone -- which was a relief, because she's been Mommy's Girl since I got home from Cancun, and I was worried she'd give him a hard time. And apparently, she sang and danced along with "We Got the Funk" when it played on Matt's computer, and then went over to Matt and said, "You got funk in your diaper? Turn around and let me check!"

So my office is converting to VOIP phones to save on money or service contracts or something. I've got a little note on my calendar to attend the "training" class next Tuesday, which I assumed meant we'd get the phones next week sometime.

So imagine my surprise when I came in this morning to find the new phone sitting on my desk, plugged in and ready to go. It's got my extension number at the top of its screen and a list of options hovering over the buttons.

Well... okay, I thought. Some instructions would be nice.

And then Alexis came into my office with a stack of photocopies and handed me one. It was labelled Phone Overview.

A million dollars would be nice.

...

...

Damn. Guess I only had the one wish.

Penny's daycare is having an "End of Summer Celebration" today. It's apparently an all-day affair, but Matt and I are just going to go for the after-work portion. Unfortunately, I expect the weather is going to cancel the pony rides they were promising.

And yes, I have my camera.
