Alexis came over after work yesterday, and we all went out to dinner. Penny was good -- a little squirmy at dinner, but I can't blame her too much for that, since the service was a bit slow. And we'd let her have sugar, so she was all full of energy. But at least she was fairly cheerful about it. It amuses me to watch Alexis around Penny. Alexis has almost no experience with small children, and the expression on her face is something like continual surprise. But then, some days I think my reaction to Penny is continual surprise. Matt told Penny this morning that "Grandma Brooks" is coming to visit. I braced for an indignant "No!" but Penny latched on to the "grandma" part of that, and immediately became excited. She told me about twenty times that Grandma Brooks was coming to visit her. So, it should be a fun weekend. One of the managers in my office is leaving to work for another company that we deal with often. I am mildly surprised, but also sort of relieved, because of our main project managers, he's the one with the least respect for what I do. Hopefully when we hire his replacement, I'll get to slip in a word or two about process. Friday. We've got a delivery going out today, and the software testing hasn't been finished. I've reviewed one of the five documents, and don't expect to see the rest of it until sometime after lunch. It's going to be a crazy day. I said at the meeting on Monday, "My mother-in-law is coming to town Friday, so I'll probably be working late..." It was a joke, and taken as such (I redacted and said I was going to try to slip out an hour early), but now it's beginning to look not so funny. |
