We have the cutest neighborhood. I came home from book club last night to discover our house had been Boo'ed.

Which is to say, while Matt was making lunches and getting ready to put Penny to bed, someone rang the doorbell and was gone by the time he got to the door. Left on the porch was a trick-or-treat bucket with some random treats -- pretzels, pencils, a pumpkin-decorating doohickey, and some play jewelery for Penny -- a ghost sign, and a piece of paper explaining that we'd been Boo'ed and encouraging us to pass it on to two of our neighbors within 24 hours.

(The ghost sign is to hang on our door to indicate that we've already been Boo'ed, so no one else gets us.)

Fortuitously, I was already planning to go to Target at lunchtime today, to pick up some costume props for Matt and I. So while I'm there, I'll pick up some stuff for Boo'ing our neighbors.

Business continues!

Tomorrow is the Fall Festival for Penny's daycare -- I am slightly dubious, as Penny is notoriously bad at after-school functions, but she seemed enthusiastic enough when I told her about it this morning. If only as an opportunity to wear her princess dress and new shiny jewelery.

And then Saturday we will drop Penny off at my parents' to terrorize Smoky until she goes to bed, and Matt and I will go to a Hallowe'en party. I wonder if we'll be able to sleep late Sunday morning.

Next Tuesday, of course, is Hallowe'en. And the day after that, my brother and sister-in-law are coming over to babysit so Matt and I can go to his office's fall gathering, which is a cocktail hour and then one of the local Ghost Tours.

There's some stuff after that, but one week is about as far into the future as I want to look, right now.

Dammit, what's my boss doing here? He was supposed to be in DC today and tomorrow.

Hmph. Oh, well. Time for coffee and the day.
