28 November 2006

I mentioned before that I've been asked to help put together a gift album for someone else, right? Yeah. I got the pages and the paper this past weekend, so it was time to put together a schedule for making sure that I get as much of it done as possible.

I decided that I'd like to have at least 30 pages done by Christmas -- that's fifteen sheets, front and back. Which would be about a page a day. To build a buffer for potential busy-ness near the holidays, I'm starting out with a goal of ten pages per week.

Which is not as crazy as it sounds like, because for one thing, I don't have any pictures at all to work with, yet -- I'm just putting borders on the pages for now. When I get pictures, the person I'm doing the album for can help me pick the pictures, and then I'll mount them on the pages. So that's just ten borders a week, not ten full layouts.

It feels a little weird to do borders without knowing what the pictures will be, but you work with what you've got, right?

Anyway, I did five pages last night, so the ten a week is pretty do-able, and I'm starting to get a feel for the styles I want to use. I may end up taking apart two of the pages I did and re-doing them so they fit with that style a little better. We'll see, though.

But I feel pretty good about the progress, and optimistic about the album. Assuming I eventually get, you know. Some pictures to put in it.

Since my camera's card died and I lost the birthday picture, I made Matt blow out candles again last night so I could get another. And then I emailed them to myself. So now, I will subject you to them! Mua-ha-ha!

This was my Thanksgiving crowd: Mom, Dad, Grandmom, me, and Grandmom's friend Marguerite.

Friday morning it was so foggy that the view from Grandmom's balcony made it look like there were only islands of land in a sea of grey. It was actually kind of pretty.

Grandmom has oodles of pictures all over her apartment, mostly of family. Pride of place is given to these two -- the high school portraits of her sons. That's my father on the left.

Don't get me wrong; Matt likes cake. But given his choice of desserts for his birthday, he chose pecan pie. Penny, of course, helped blow out the candles.

Penny disdained the pie, but was happy to have a little ice cream -- and the height of luxury, a dollop of Cool Whip on top! And ate it with two spoons!
