Holy cow this weekend was full of action and excitement! I've got a 481-page document sitting on my desk waiting for review, and a meeting in one hour, so I'm going to just hit the highlights, if you don't mind... But with pictures! That makes it okay, right?!

Friday. Friday night, my mom and I went to Tony 'n' Tina's Wedding. We had the crappiest seats possible, and missed too much. (The "bride" plopped herself down halfway through the reception and informed us that the crappiness of our table was because we'd all waited until the last possible minute to RSVP and she'd already given the count to the caterer. I was amused that they had an excuse for it, at least.)

But they didn't waste any time wondering whether they should go over the top on anything...

The wedding singer. He butchered every song he touched.

The videographer. Also, the bride's brother's boyfriend.

The best part of the show for me wasn't even the show itself.

Mom spotted her friend Sophia a few tables away from us. I haven't seen her for years and years, but once upon a time, I was her favorite child in the universe, I think. She was very excited to see me, too.

Saturday was the zoo with the Hickses. Jess's playgroup friend couldn't make it, alas, but we had fun anyway. There were a few meltdowns due to too much excitement and no nap, but all in all, it was a pretty good time.

You could feed the goats and sheep. Penny LOVED it.

Penny and Jess held hands for about half the trip. It was quite adorable.

The lions positioned themselves very photogenically -- the male right by the viewing window; the female on top of a rock.

It's too early in the spring for there to be butterflies in the butterfly garden, but Penny and Jess were enamoured of this chair.

This enormous granite ball has a map of the earth on it, though it didn't show up in pictures well. It's spinning on a fountain, and visitors are encouraged to play with it.

Sunday was pretty normal in almost every way. Except for this...

I had my suspicions.

To answer the few things I've been asked several times: No, it's not a secret (obviously). No, I don't have an official due-date yet. No, we haven't told Penny about it, but that's not because we don't want her to know; it's because her sense of time is a bit funny. When I start showing and the baby starts kicking, we'll let her know what's going on, but until then, there's just no need.
