Happy May! Happy May-Day! Happy birthday, K.T.!

Matt's car is in the shop today for an inspection and an oil change, so he has my car, and I am without a vehicle. (It works out to be a little more convenient that way than for me to drop Matt off.)

It means I'll wind up working some extra this afternoon, but since I'm going to wind up taking about half the day off tomorrow for doctor's appointments (one for Penny, one for me), it's not like it will go unused.

Penny seems to have finally glommed onto the idea of using the potty. We still have to tell her to go, but it finally occurred to her that if she gets a cookie every time she goes poo in the potty, then maybe this is worth doing!

So she hasn't had any accidents for quite a while -- not even first thing in the morning, when she's wearing the pull-ups that we put her to bed in. I'm beginning to think that when the current box of pull-ups is done, we might take a stab at going diaper-less at night, too.

I know, I know, I'm so demanding!

So, yeah, pregnant. I'm less giddy with excitement this time and more apprehensive about how much extra work it will be and how it will change our family dynamic. Which is not to say I'm not excited, but I think the reality of the situation is hitting me earlier this time around.

When I told my mom, she said, "Well, you need to start making lists of things you'll need!"

I laughed at her. We're both big list-makers, but I told her it was way too early for me to start making my obsessive little lists.

Except, damn her, I'm starting. It's not the things she was thinking of -- I'm not worried about the clothes or the furniture or whatnot right now. I'm making lists of household chores that I absolutely want done before the baby comes. Book purges, repairs, decorating Penny's new room (and moving her into it), converting the garage... Big projects.

We're going to make some contractor very happy (or at least moderately wealthy) this summer.
