No more wonky dreams last night, thank goodness. Mildly busy over the next few days. Tomorrow we've got a big document going out for our most frustrating customer. And Penny's school is having a Mother's Day social just before lunch. Guess which one I'm looking forward to? Saturday, Penny has a birthday party to go to, this time for the little boy that she decided a few weeks ago that she was going to marry. (I know, I know, it won't be nearly as cute in another few years.) This one is at a park, so I'm hoping for nice weather. Sunday is Mother's Day, which means I get to sleep in, whoo! And we're having dinner with the family at John and Sam's, which should be fun. We haven't all been together since Easter. "This is my house!" Penny told me this morning. "That's right, it's your house, and Daddy's house, and Mommy's house," I agreed. "And after a while, it's going to be the baby's house, too!" "Yeah. And I will pick her up!" "Well, babies are very delicate and can get hurt easy, so you'll have to be very very careful, but yes, you'll get to hold the baby." "I will pick her up and I'll give her a great big squish-hug!" Penny mimed squashing something close to her chest. "And then I will put her down." She mimed that, too. I figured it was a little early to harp on the "careful" theme, so I just smiled and patted her back. "I'm glad you're excited about the baby, sweetheart." One of the women in the yoga class had taken her four-year-old to the hospital's "orientation" class for new-siblings-to-be. She said it was an excellent little class, aimed specifically at the two-to-four-year-old set, and covered all kinds of territory. They practiced holding babies with dolls, and even took the kids on a little tour of the maternity ward (little kids are sometimes frightened by hospital rooms, so early exposure is nice) and showed them a real live newborn (through the nursery glass, with the mother's permission). We'll definitely want to sign Penny up for that class, when the time draws near. |
Last Year: I haven't the slightest idea what that was all about. 5 Years Ago: Much hilarity ensued. Listening: - iPod on random Netflix: - Memento - The Broken Hearts Club Playing: - Warcraft - Neopets Projects: - the photo album - scrapbooks (post-college, '07) |
