22 April 2008

Alex's fever was pretty much gone last night, and didn't return during the night or this morning, so we're sending him back to school today. Whoo for quick and mild little colds, I guess. He couldn't have asked for a gentler introduction to the world of illness.

But there wasn't a lot of sleep last night, either. I didn't get to sleep until 11:30, and Penny was up at 1:45 ("Mommy, I can't find my cat toy!") and then Alex was up at 2:15, and then Penny was up again to ask for a glucose check at... geez, I don't even know when that was. Three? I know I was awake from 1:45 until about 3:30, and I can remember standing in the upstairs hallway waiting for Matt to get Penny's test kit from downstairs where I'd stupidly left it, and I was so tired I actually felt nauseous.

That's why I was up until 3:30 after her stick, anyway -- I spent a while laying in bed wondering if I was going to have to bolt for the bathroom.

And then Alex started to wake up at about 5:45 this morning. He grunted a bit and then went back to sleep, but by then I was awake. So that's, what? about four and a half hours of sleep?

At this point, I can't wait to wean Alex simply because it means I'll start getting my turn to sleep in one day each weekend again.

I hope Alex resumes sleeping through the night again soon. He seems to be working backwards across the clock -- Four, three, two... If he doesn't go back to sleeping through soon, though, I might cut out his 10:00 feeding, just so I can go to bed earlier.

I know, I know -- whine, whine, bitch, moan.
