Don't have much else to talk about today, really. I started reading Little Brother yesterday, and I'm really enjoying it. Like most of Cory Doctorow's stuff, it's fast-paced, well-researched, and socially relevant. It's marketed as Young Adult fiction in the near-future sci-fi genre, but it's smarter than most of the adult fiction I've read.

Addendum: I went to upload this, and had some trouble getting a decent FTP connection. After some screwing around and diagnostics, I discovered that my company's firewall had been reconfigured to block all FTP connections. If I want through, I have to submit a waiver request -- which I rather doubt they'll approve for my private journal, eh?

I'd been considering moving my journal to a bloghost for some time; doing all the formatting and updating links and such here was taking nearly as much time as actually writing the entries. Not being able to upload from work pretty much puts the nail in the coffin for it -- my evenings are frenetic enough without having to remember to take my thumb drive home every night and find the time to plug it in and do the upload.

I'm not quitting, I promise, but I'm definitely moving to someplace easier to maintain (and accessible from work, while I'm at it). That will happen soon -- most likely in the next few days -- and I'll put a notice and forwarding link up here as soon as it happens. (I want to research my options before I jump; there are several features I'd like to have, as long as I'm starting fresh, like the option to email an entry in case my work blocks the website, do DNS forwarding so I can have my own domain name eventualy, and maybe even upload my archives as a batch. I don't think I'm going to get all those -- especially the archives -- but I might as well look. If you have any ideas, by all means say so!)

In the meantime, I'll be uploading in the evenings, and since that's not part of my usual routine, forgive me if things are a bit sporadic.
